HK: A Foodies Guide – Series 3!

Hong Kong

Hong Kong

What I have for you today is a popular HK fast food. They call it “rice boxes” there, and basically is a lunchbox. In the picture shown here, it is a combination of roast pork, and steamed chicken. There are many HK BBQ’s around in Brisbane that serve the same dish, just that they just don’t do it the same as the one shown here.

The chicken itself, combined with the ginger and shallot (on the right) makes for a delicious taste. Without it, the chicken doesn’t have too much taste to it. The pork is split into the skin and the meat. The red slices are the pork skin which are very crunchy and is kinda like chips, but heaps better! The meat itself is actually pork belly, and is marinated in various herbs and spices. All in all, this was a tasty meal for a small 5 AUD (roughly)!

PS – Sorry guys, I’ve been a bit busy, but will continue to try and make weekly entries for you regular readers! =D

HK: A Foodie’s Guide – Series 2!

Only In HK

Only In HK

As simple as this is, I still haven’t found anywhere in Brisbane that can make this “soup noodle”. I bring you won ton noodles! For some reason all the won ton’s here in Brisbane only contain pork and feel like pork meatballs wrapped with the won ton pastry. The ones in HK actually have heaps of prawns as well as tasting really good. In terms of noodles, these ones had a springy feel to it. It’s probably my first time having this, and it was so worth it for about 7 AUD I think. So next time you’re in HK, give it a go, many places have it, and it will be well worth your money!

Falafel in Santa Cruz

Falafel in Santa Cruz

Hey guys! Apologise for the late post – having a meal plan over here makes it really difficult to eat out that much, as all your meals are included in college. But yeah, speaking of which, I have a chicken falafel bread for you in this entry.

This kinda reminds me of our shish kebabs back at home, but with a stronger Barbeque smell, and chicken actually isn’t shaved chicken. It was really tasty, and each chicken piece was full of flavour too. You must try this dish if you love kebabs! 🙂
