I feel like chicken tonight, like chicken tonight!

Since it’s Valentine’s Day, I hope you guys manage to spend time some warm mushy time with your loved ones!

For this special occasion, I bring you a hot chicken that many of you who live down under know – Nando’s Portugese style BBQ Chicken. Skip this entry if you wish, but you’ll miss one of the fast food favourites that is really popular over here (this entry is for those of you that haven’t ever tried it, or can’t =P)

Extra Hot Chicken @ Nando;s Kenmore

First off is the classic Nando’s BBQ Chicken. For me, if the Nando’s chicken isn’t at least hot, I would prefer having a normal BBQ chicken. Speaking of which, when you order one of these chickens, you have a choice ranging from lemon and herb, to mild, to hot, to extra hot. The extra “hotness” gives it extra “bite“, and makes the chicken so much more interesting to eat imo. I went up for the challenge today and ordered it extra hot (muahahaha =P).

I have no idea why, but the person who grills the chickens loves to add a few burnt bits here and there, usually on the wings. Maybe it just helps with adding the extra charcoal flavour that makes the chicken different. =) It was juicy, and wasn’t over or under cooked, and I love the flavour. Top that off with some extra Peri-Peri sauce, and now I want another one of these for takeaway right now =D Peri-Peri sauce comes in the same range of hotness as the chicken too and you grab a bottle at the restaurant. (but in takeaway they usually just chuck in some mild ones =P).

Peri-Peri Chips + Perinaise @ Nando's Kenmore

Next we have the famous Peri-Peri Chips + Perinaise. You can just get Peri-Peri Chips instead of the normal chips for no extra costs, and it tastes much better imo as well =P. It’s kinda like chilli salt, and has a tangy flavour to it! Add that with Perinaise ($1.90AUD) and you’re pretty much in Peri-Peri Heaven! =D Though some people might not want to pay extra for the Perinaise, it does give more variety in the different tastes to tempt your tastebuds.

Fiesta + Salad + Perinaise + Peri-Peri Sauce @ Nando's Kenmore

Here you have it, a Fiesta meal (whole Nando’s BBQ chicken + Peri-Peri Chips) with a side dish salad, Perinaise and extra Peri-Peri Sauce (shown here so you know what the bottle looks like). The salad was your typical salad at $2.95AUD, and just gives you something to relieve your tastebuds from overheating from the Peri-Peri sauce. All in all this costed about 22AUD or so, it wasn’t too bad, and enough food for two people (perfect for Valentine’s Day ay? ;P)

Go try it sometime if you haven’t already, you won’t regret it! =D

PS the title is from an old jingle of the sauce product, Chicken Tonight, you can youtube it here. =P
