Anyone heard of Hainan Chicken Rice? It’s a really popular dish in Singapore and other countries with hawker food. More after the jump!
So what exactly is Hainan Chicken? It is essentially a premarinated steamed chicken, served with a special chilli sauce and/or sweet soy sauce/ginger and shallot oil. It is served with steam rice that has been mixed with salt and some of the leftover oil and sauce that comes from the steaming of the chicken. It tastes really good, and its full of that “chicken flavour”. This one here has all the bones removed and the parsley on top of it gives it some extra “bite”. It comes in a “lunch size and price” too, if you’re worried you can’t finish it.
As I haven’t blogged often enough on here as I’d like to, I’ll also cover a popular Singapore/Malaysian Hawker dish – the Beef Rendang from the same place. It’s a nice curry, and makes a great addition to rice too. I love having curry especially on a cold winter night, like these nights lately. This dish wasn’t too spicy, and worth a try. I can’t comment on whether or not whether it is the real deal Beef Rendang, but it’s well worth a try anyway.
Until next time~~~

Ahhhhh hainan chicken rice are singapura!! You can basically eat the rice and not the chicken because it’s so good =) I remember there’s the “order 2 serves to get a bucket of rice” trick hahaha

anyway, as to hainan chicken.. =P oh the rice itself, yes, i agree.. is so good by itself!!!
and the chilli that goes with it.. mmhmmhmm..
