Hey guys! How’s everyone going? It’s been a while ay? As stated above this entry will cover what is known as Taiwanese food. Not many people know what it is, so I’ll be here to inform you, and hope you’ll come to appreciate it too. Now, without further ado, click on the jump to check out this 2 course Taiwanese meal and more!
We’ll start off with a popular drink that originated from Taiwan:

This is of course the famous Pearl Milk Tea. Served cold, and combining the usual sweet aroma of a milk tea, it’s quite refreshing, and keeps your mouth busy chewing. The pearls themselves are really chewy and you could probably describe them like balls of jelly. xD You can also find these at the popular tea bars available now, like EasyWay and TeaBar.
Next we have our entree/appetizer:

What we have here is a really popular starters dish, or a dish for people to start nibbling on. Pretty much the Chinese for it literally means “cold plate” (Correct me if I’m wrong please). It has a lot of things that many of you I bet would cringe or usually wouldn’t eat – pork ears, and beef tripe. There is also some dried tofu slices and some seaweed too. Usually these are marinated in a special sweet soya sauce marinate. It tastes great, and I reckon all of you should give it a try, and hopefully you’ll get over the gross factor of eating different animal internals. =P And last but not least the main course:

What I have here isn’t the most health meal. Pork Belly Rice Taiwanese style! Pork Belly isn’t the most healthy to eat, due to a layer of fat that separates the meat from the skin. It’s marinated in another sweet soya sauce, so it tastes just as good as the entree above. That with rice makes for one of the best combination of food. The round thing below is a hard boiled egg that has been marinated in the same sauce, while on the left side is usually some kind of cabbage stew. Above it is some Chinese vegetables usually just stir-fried with a carrot for good measure. This comes with a chicken stock soup (that’s kinda greasy, but still tastes delicious!).
You can get this pretty much anywhere in the Sunnybank area – this one was at the Sunnybank Plaza side. It’s alright value – the drink was about 3 bucks (cheaper than EasyWay!), the entree dish was 5 or 6 AUD, while the mail meal was less than 9 AUD from what I remember.
Until next time~
you make me so want2 go2 Sunnybank tomrw~~esp. after my strawberry&peanut butter mix :S
