Happy Chinese New Year~

恭喜發財!

Happy Chinese New Year! Hope that all your wishes and dreams come true for this year, and that we all enjoy another year full of fun, laughter, and food. =P

To celebrate this year’s Chinese New Year, I have something special for you guys. Hope you have a tissue nearby to stop drooling when you see these two dishes! Please ignore this entry if you don’t like any seafood. =P

Ginger Shallot Lobster @ Jindalee Oriental
Now that’s what I would call a decent sized lobster. I’d say the silver dish it is served on was a bit longer than a foot. =) This kind of food would cost heaps - lucky for me it was CNY dinner for the restaurant I work at. It was pretty fresh, and tasted good, but cos there were heaps of people there at the evening, you couldn’t help but wish you had a bigger serving and it was cold! It had a strong lobster flavour, and I wish I could have this every day! The base was stir-fried “Yee Min” with heaps of thick sauce base as well. All in all it tasted good, presentation was good as you can see, just wished there was more to have of it, and that I had it when it was fresh out of the kitchen lol.

The next dish I have here is what they call a Nonya style fish.
Nonya Fish @ Jindalee Oriental
Using a frozen Red Throat Emperor (image here), aka Sweetlip, this whole fish is fried to be crispy, and is served with Nonya sauce that surrounds the whole fish. “The Nonya sauce is sweet but hot, with shallots, jalapenos, garlic, lime juice and coconut milk.” (from http://lunchinabox.net/2007/08/28/nonya-skate-wing-box-lunches/) As this was served a while before I ate it, the fish wasn’t fresh from the kitchen as it should be. It had a sweet tangy flavour due to the uniqueness of the Nonya sauce itself. A tad spicy for those who aren’t game enough, and a bit pricey too if you have a tight budget. Expect this dish to be around the early 20ish mark (I can’t remember), but it is worth it if you want something ‘different‘.

Remember, I only blog about food that is worth a try for all of you fellow readers - until next time, hope you guys enjoy your CNY, receive heaps of red packets, and eat lots of good food. =D
