Densha Obento!

Have you guys ever been on long train trips where you feel oh so hungry? The train doesn’t sell good food, so what do u do? You get an O-bento, just like this one:

Densha Obento

For a bit more than 8AUD you get a Japanese lunch box just like this. It has heaps of food, guaranteed to fill your stomach for the rest of your long train ride. It’s got appetisers, a main course, and desert as well =P For starters you get a variety of sushi, including half cooked salmon, inigiri (I think its the name for that rice wrapped in tofu, will check later :P ), and some chicken sushi. For mains, its the top left hand side, with some salty fish (its kinda sweet too, lets just called it marinated fish) wrapped with some seaweed, add some tomago with that (the japanese sweet egg that you get with sushi), some seafood cake (like fish cakes i think), and there’s a piece of grilled salmon with that too! With the rice on the right they give you there is a slice of mushroom, ikura (large cod roe/eggs), and some thin egg slices for viewing pleasure ;) For desert there is some special kinda red bean paste rolled up in a ball below the rice in a purple muffin paper base.

If you don’t like eating food that’s cold, I suggest you hold back from getting one of these Obentos. It’s pretty good value don’t you guys think? =P And you can pick it up from a department store – this one was from Daimaru in Umeda, Osaka for those interested. Until next time! =)
